Why start a partnership with a Hospital in Africa?
As a company, our ministry has always been our industry. We believe in equipping and inspiring dancers to be servant leaders on their teams, in their schools, their homes and their communities. The essential idea of being “others centered not self centered” has been rooted in every facet of our business. God has now called us to a global stage and to join forces with dance teams across Texas to give the gift of health to our friends in Ethiopia.
What is Soddo Christian Hospital?
Soddo Christian Hospital is a medical missionary hospital in southwest Ethiopia in the town, Soddo. Soddo is in the center of the Wolaitta region, which has about 2.5 million inhabitants, and is one of the most populated and impoverished parts of Ethiopia. Families walk for days to receive treatment for ailments such as broken bones, pneumonia, OBGYN complications and more. Only the most severe case will get one of SCH’s 120 beds. The hospital strives to provide the highest quality of medical, surgical, maternity and pediatric care possible making the best use of all available resources. However, this standard is lacking compared to the quality of healthcare we are familiar with here in the states. Can you imagine a doctor not being able to properly diagnose the severity of your child’s pneumonia? Soddo doctors must rely on educated guesses, and limited treatment options to manage symptoms, then adjust care accordingly. Can you fathom not having privacy curtains, air conditioning, and perfectly cleaned sheets and blankets for every bed? Unfortunately, this is an everyday reality for patients and healthcare providers at Soddo Christian Hospital, so we hope to help improve their available testing options and expand the variety of SCH resources.
Crowd Pleasers hopes to raise 30,000 dollars to help fund Soddo Christian Hospital’s most urgent needs. Currently, SCH is fundraising for a new lab machine, a new operating room sterilizer, and an ongoing benevolent fund to serve even the poorest patients.
As this partnership grows, we hope to see lives transformed both here and in Ethiopia. God has an amazing way of molding our hearts for people and daily battles that we cannot even begin to comprehend. We consume our minds with schedules, technology and frivolous details, when those in Africa spend their time walking miles to get water for their family. To be vividly reminded of this picture, we plan to send a team of CP staff to Ethiopia each year. They will have the opportunity to share their passion for dance and build relations with orphans, street kids, healthcare providers, and other missionaries. Learning the heart of the Ethiopian people and putting stories to our purpose will have a life changing impact on everyone who joins us, and possibly spur even more creative acts of servant leadership.
Our PLAN involves YOU!!
As an event oriented company, we plan to sell merchandise, some even made by Ethiopians, host several benefit concerts, workshops, shows and more. We are looking forward to exceeding our goal with the help of our CP teams, friends, and family. Whether you come to an event, buy partnership merchandise, donate online or pray for healing and provision, we cannot thank you enough for joining us in this mission to inspire and serve these beautiful people over 8,000 miles away.
